Yes! Altitude Angel's systems are permanently connected to the worldwide NOTAM system so we automatically include NOTAMs as soon as they are published. This ensures that there is minimal delay between the publishing of the NOTAM and the appearance of it within our products.

Furthermore, our systems automatically filter out NOTAMs which are not relevant to drone pilots and drone operations, such as notification of faulty airport landing light. Typically, NOTAMs which are shown include TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions) and Navigation Warnings.

Enhancing NOTAM details

NOTAMS describe the affected location by describing a circle. This circle is described as a centre point and radius in nautical miles on the “Q Line”. This centre point isn’t very precise as it is only defined in degrees and minutes, meaning it could be up to 1KM out! Where possible, Altitude Angel’s systems use the more detailed E-line "human-readable" description which often contains a degrees, minutes and seconds latitude and longitude, increasing the precision to less than 15 metres. The E line is also used to describe airspace volumes that are not circular. Accuracy is very important to us.

We provide a representation of the full NOTAM in all its original textual glory, too, incase you want to show off your NOTAM-ninja reading skills!

General Caution about unofficial NOTAM sources

Many other online services only check for new NOTAMs on a limited schedule, typically once or twice per day. Unfortunately, many of the TFRs that we are seeing (e.g. for reactive/unplanned search and rescue operations) come into effect immediately and only last a few hours. Without a constant connection to the worldwide NOTAM system, these NOTAMS will not be received in a timely nature by these other sites and may even have expired before they check again for updates.
